There are few clubs in Ligue 1 that have had a stronger relationship with Portuguese football than Lille. From Rafael Leão to Renato Sanches to José Fonte to Tiago Djaló, various Portuguese players have flourished at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy. They have signed a total of nine players from Portuguese clubs since 2017, the latest being 20-year-old right back Tiago Santos. Two years after joining the club, Santos departs Estoril Praia and joins Les Dogues on a five-year deal, and he'll be looking to hone his talents under Portuguese manager Paulo Fonseca at Lille, who finished fifth and will be playing in the Europa Conference League play-offs.
